Nonprofits of the Month :: July 2010 :: Peak Water

July 2, 2010

Peak water is reached when the rate at which water demanded is higher than the rate at which the supply is replenished. By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world population could be under stress conditions. The nonprofits below are committed to reversing this trend through education and conservation in hopes of preventing the looming global water crisis:

The Groundwater Foundation’s mission is to educate people and inspire action to ensure sustainable, clean groundwater for future generations.

Everyone benefits from a sustainable supply of clean groundwater, whether it is
the source of your drinking water or the water used to grow the food on your
table – groundwater is vital to life. As such, every person plays a role in
protecting and conserving groundwater. The Groundwater Foundation provides
motivational and inspirational education and community-based action programs
that creatively involve individuals, communities, private and public entities in
    groundwater conservation and protection.

    So Let’s Keep It Clean!
