On Vacation. Offline. In Nature. Viewing Wildlife. Will Reconnect on August 27!

August 7, 2012

Back in 2009 I wrote up 10 tips for managing social media burnout and taking my own advice, I am going offline for three weeks. On vacation… in remote areas in a distant land… viewing wildlife (hopefully)… and 100% offline. No smartphone. No tablet. No work. Just a camera, a couple of good books, and a journal, a pen, and a glue stick. As much as I love what I do and still feel passionately inspired almost daily by social and mobile media and its potential to change the world, sometimes you have to disconnect from technology so you can reconnect to nature and a slower, more relaxed mind… so then afterwards you are refreshed and ready reconnect to technology… inspired once again.

That said, it’s been a great year. A very busy one and shockingly I still manage to make a living from blogging, social media, and training. Trust me… I am consistently in a state of wonder about that fact. If you would have told me seven years ago when I start the “Nonprofit Organizations” Myspace profile that it all would have led to this… in my wildest dreams I could not have imagined all that has followed.

So, to all those who bought my book this year, attended a training, hired me to give a training, took a webinar, sent a friendly tweet, or said a kind word online… Thank you. I do not take it for granted. I am grateful.

Your webinars are informative and insightful. And taking a break offline is an excellent idea and no less than I would have expected of someone who makes social media made sense. Enjoy!
