An online database of Twitter Apps called oneforty currently lists almost 2,900 third-party Twitter Apps. While some nonprofits have been early adopters of Twitter Apps, the vast majority are not. The ten Twitter Apps listed below are 10 of my 25 favorites: 1. TwitPic : TwitPic lets you share photos on Twitter.

We're often asked about how to set up a Twitter account for an organization, when it's likely that more than one staffer will be tweeting. For the website link field of the profile, create a Twitter landing page which says, "Welcome to the Twitter page for YAP! Use a multiple account Twitter client to manage your accounts.

This was a follow-up from this post where I laid out 4 step for setting up an organizational Twitter account. Twitter can be a great space for building community around your membership-based organization, whether you work for a professional society, trade association or a cause-related nonprofit. We're working with one group who had exactly this scenario - a fairly big event coming up quickly, and members asking about their social media presence, and they figured they should just jump in and set up an official Twitter account to see what would happen. I was recently asked to do a quick summary of this post by Guy Kawasaki, "Looking for Mr GoodTweet: How to Pick Up Followers on Twitter" which has been doing the rounds. It's a long post with a bunch of tips, so here's the short version for those of us with many hats and/or short attention spans and/or not much time in the day, etc.

Originally, I thought I'd write this post in order to summarize the comments to this post on Twitip , which posed the question of how to fundraise on Twitter and requested help from readers in the comments. But I actually found a lot more ideas after a quick Twitter request, so here's what I've come up with so far. Good luck! --.

Tweetsgiving was one of the first Twitter campaigns designed to raise money. Built around Thanksgiving, the idea was for Twitterers to tweet (post) something they are grateful for, and at the same time post a link to Tweetsgiving where a donation could be made to build a classroom in Tanzania. The goal was $10,000. Not bad!

It got me thinking about managing multiples: multiple twitter accounts, multiple people tweeting from one account, and how do you tweet a network of affiliates or a movement. There are no official rules, although there is some great advice in the O'Reilly Twitter Book on this topic for corporate examples. Tags: twitter
