Lame spams of the day: confirmation from [insert social network name]

In the past 2 days I've received spams in the form of confirmations from MySpace, Habbo, Tagged, and Foursquare. Sender: Tagged (Tagged@taggedmail.com). Is it a trend or just me? They don't look related, but it's an odd coincidence. Here they are: 1) Subject: Please confirm your Myspace account cancellation.

Similar to the notifications from MySpace, Habbo, Tagged, and Foursquare I got a few weeks ago, I'm getting lots of fake Facebook notifications. According to this article , they're phishing messages. Managing a blog, I wind up reviewing and deleting lots of spam comments. Tags: Spam. One of the most unusual had the text “commit suicide on Xanax.&# Googling that phrase yields 353,000 hits. Is this a selling point?

Not quite as clever as “ commit suicide on xanax ,&# but this spam comment caught my eye. Tags: Spam. This one has been posted 3,600 times. Is this the product of a random word generator or does someone actually write this stuff?

Digital Wallet Helps Prevent Phishing

Tags: Security Spam. Without thinking too much about it, I clicked on the URL and was taken to a fake Twitter homepage asking me to log in. Roboform knew this wasn't a real Twitter page, and so wouldn't log me in. That made me realize that I was being scammed. Thanks, Roboform.

Clueless Charity PR

First, the message is spam. Tags: Fundraising. I got a press release today from a PR firm promoting its client's plans to raise $1,000 for Thanksgiving meals and $5,000 for families in need at Christmas. While these are certainly laudable goals, I had a strong negative reaction. Second, is this news?
