We don't have a server so we don't want desktop software. Or they are designed for teams that work on software development. Or they are designed for teams that work work with clients on software development. Good for software development projects. Yet working this way, we miss that "big picture" overview. .

They have a hosted version , but at a minimum of $20/month it's more than I want to spend now compared to a one-time software license purchase. After playing with all the options, I ultimately decided to export the files to HTML, upload online via FTP and serve in a Salesforce custom web tab aptly named "How Do I?"

Some who sell software to nonprofits think that organizations with small staffs and tight budgets aren't interested in or capable of having a fundraising CRM that flexible. Try that with DonorPerfect or eTapestry. Organizations had nearly unlimited flexibility in what they could do on top of what was in the package.

Yet I am rebooting the phone way too often to solve various software ills. I could go on. My phone is not rooted. I only install apps that are well-known/popular. I keep my caches as clean as I can. Sometimes by force (removing the battery) due to hard freezes that are unrecoverable. I’ve had enough and it’s only 3 months in.

Other folks suggested replaying the file through Camtasia , but I wasn't going to buy a $300 piece of software for this. That didn't work, as the trick posted only seemed to apply to an earlier GTM version. Same with another tip to use HandBrake. A call to GoToMeeting support didn't gain much more than sympathy.

Until the original developer sold his software to IllumineX and it all went to heck. No WYSIWYG like in Live Writer, but fairly easy to switch between code and a rich text Word-like view. It had a great image uploader, very configurable, lean markup and lots of other tricks up its sleeve.

She also has an internal filter that's better than any parental control software. I just turned off her cell phone account because she was never using it. Only recently has she mastered answering and using the telephone at home. She refused to see a PG-13 movie until she was actually 13. She doesn't like to hear bad words.

But this is simple, included with Salesforce, and doesn't require special software to read/use the data. Turn on the Weekly Backup Setup -> Administration Setup -> Data Management -> Data Export. There are other tools for backing up Salesforce data that are far more robust. That file is only available for 48 hours.

So once we switch, no more worry about the software becoming outdated. It’s a stand-alone CRM built on the Force.com platform. Once on board, support will be a phone call away, and they’ll also keep the packages fully updated. There are some sweet features in Common Ground, including a relationship module that’s to die-for.

I hope when Google Chrome OS is introduced that Google has a team that will directly respond to user issues and won’t depend entirely on the hardware partners to support the software (just try asking AT&T a software question about the iPhone – ’nuff said). You can’t easily fall back on something else.

That means that the software uploads 20 records, chews on them, uploads the next batch, chews on them, etc. Only downside so far: There is so much code in Common Ground, that imports/deletes have to be set to very small batch sizes in the data loader. Convio docs recommend a batch size of 5(!!) for donations. Gets painful.

They locked the software down to new sign-ups while they tweaked the code. In practice, I found Disqus to be a little klunky and so I removed it. Then Automattic, the company behind WordPress, purchased Disqus’ biggest competitor : Intense Debate. I applied for a beta invite which just came through this morning.

Thankfully, their software is excellent and doesn't need a lot of support, but that's no excuse not to provide it. Apparently they promise to support CR-48 owners in the pilot program, but I've seen no evidence of what this actually means.

My priorities: Each morning, I look at all my tasks and decide which ones have to be done today, while allowing wiggle room for the fires that I know will pop up.
