You are invited to participate in a University of Waterloo research study about the common approaches to strategic planning practiced by nonprofit organizations. The purpose of the study is to learn what these practices are and explore if and how certain planning approaches are more effective in helping organizations navigate turbulent environments. For the purpose of this study the COVID-19 crisis is used as an example of extreme turbulence to gauge the relationship between how organizations conduct strategic planning and their effectiveness in adapting to the changes brought by the pandemic.

Organizations are also invited to participate in the next step of this research to further learn about specific planning practices and how they contribute to effective management of turbulence. The learnings from this analysis will be used to devise a comprehensive strategic planning model specifically tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized nonprofits. You will have the opportunity to express your interest to be contacted further at the end of this survey.

The study is focused on nonprofit organizations from the social service sector based in Ontario.
