Wendy Sternberg left her successful internal medicine practice in Evanston Illinois because she decided she could better heal the world through Genesis at the Crossroads (GATC), an organization she founded.
The group later travelled to Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. People often become doctors because they want to heal people, and by extension, heal the world. GATC mission “is to bridge cultures in conflict through the arts and to create innovative arts-education programs around the world.”

I'm between speaking four times in Illinois on Friday (will blog about that soon) and heading to Washington DC today (Sunday) for three days of meetings around Bookshare and social entrepreneurship. Somebody captured a great picture of Jimmy (which I asked him to send me) in full fencing gear during the tourney. My wife Virginia and I were able to squeeze in a quick trip to Boston to see our son Jimmy fence in the Intercollegiate Fencing Championships, his last fencing tournament in college. It was great for us to be able to spend the time with him as he gets ready to finish

My friend told me about a rally that was happening on the Washington mall. first worked as an outreach coordinator for the Great Lakes region, which is six states: Illinois, Ohio, and a bunch of others around there. There are a group of 10 students in STAND's managing committee, and those students come together every couple of months in Washington, D.C. One of the world's challenges that disturbs me the most is genocide. Perhaps it is because my generation was raised reading The Diary of Anne Frank and watching dozens of movies about the Holocaust.
