National Nurses Day!

On the heels of Giving Tuesday, we have another major national day today, May 6th, honoring nurses and other healthcare workers.

Active around the turn of the century, Florence Nightingale is credited with founding modern nursing. She was an advocate of strict hand washing and other practices and successfully reduced the death rate among wounded Crimean War soldiers from 40% to 2%.

It is fitting that we honor the millions of nurses at work today, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Every one of us will benefit from the care of a nurse during our lifetimes, and today, they are on the front lines like no one else.

We join so many others honoring the work they do and the care they offer.

Thank you.
