Three Must-Haves On Your Nonprofit’s Blog
[tweetmeme] As I have said many times, I was a reluctant blogger. I did not think the Internet needed another blogger. But I was wrong. So wrong. Blogging has transcended my ROI (return on investment), primarily from simply featuring my e-newsletter “Subscribe” option and social networking icons in the upper right column. Sadly, the vast majority of nonprofit blogs do not feature on their blog the three must-haves listed below:
1. e-Newsletter sign-up
2. “Donate Now” button
3. Social media icons
My best guess as to why is only that the nonprofit blogger doesn’t know the basic HTML necessary to add links and images to their blog. However, it is so worth taking the time learn how to do it, or to find someone who does. That said, you can browse the nonprofit blogs below for inspiration:

Thanks for this post. Great ways to encourage donations and build your following with your blog! In case anyone needs information about how to add a “Tweet This” button, it’s very simple. Twitter has a wizard that will create the code for you to copy and paste. When you’re logged into Twitter, click on the “Resources” link and then the “Tweet Button” link to get to the wizard. The wizard automatically generates suggested tweet text. Sometimes that text is too long or non-descriptive. The fix is easy. Just select the option that allows you to enter your own suggested tweet text, and then you can make it short and compelling so people will notice the tweets and follow the link back to your site.

Kimberly, check out Firespring.com. They designed a website for the NPO I work for last year. They were a great group to work with and we are very happy with our website.
i as well have all three, some of them focused more on niche targets (like earthquake kit and other related things) ~ i can say though that the email signup was HUGE for me and i recommend it to everyone out there
