I gather that Google can sync notes and tasks, even though they don't exist in Gmail or Google's calendar. Setting up a Gmail account was incredibly simple - I just had to enter my login info and the Pre knew how to configure the account. Not as terrible as I'd feared, but I'll definitely be buying an extended battery.
