Our Web Executive Seminar last month featured a terrific case study by District of Columbia CTO Vivek Kundra on the DC Data Catalog -- an archive of over 200 data feeds. Under Kundra's leadership, the District is using simple technologies to become, arguably, one of the most transparent metropolitan governments in the nation. Enjoy!

I had a great time yesterday at Transparency Camp '09 in DC - kudos to Peter Corbett , and Gabriela Schneider and Clay Johnson and others at Sunlight Foundation , as well as others for catalyzing it. There were folks there from NYC, west coast, and elsewhere, but about 2/3 were locals from DC. Twitter feed and Flickr pictures.

Although I had no key, I did have was a lock pick kit I acquired from Privacy Camp DC. Speakers came from Stephenson Strategies, DC government, NPR, and the Sunlight Foundation. This included putting all videos of procurement bids on to YouTube to releasing real-time data sets in a catalog of 261 data feeds , the DC government has quickly become a leading example of data transparency. Old school vs. Not quite.
