I'm in DC waiting to head over to the actual White House for an event with President Obama (and I have to assume, hundreds of the leading disability advocates) this afternoon.

Our Web Executive Seminar last month featured a terrific case study by District of Columbia CTO Vivek Kundra on the DC Data Catalog -- an archive of over 200 data feeds. Under Kundra's leadership, the District is using simple technologies to become, arguably, one of the most transparent metropolitan governments in the nation. Enjoy!
Our staff and clients are excited by the Obama administration's pledge to promote transparency in government, as well as the DC government's recent innovations with public data. This is a free event. I had a great time yesterday at Transparency Camp '09 in DC - kudos to Peter Corbett , and Gabriela Schneider and Clay Johnson and others at Sunlight Foundation , as well as others for catalyzing it. There were folks there from NYC, west coast, and elsewhere, but about 2/3 were locals from DC. Twitter feed and Flickr pictures.
Yesterday, my colleague Chris von Spiegelfeld shared some impressions of our recent event Web Sites Without Walls. Post-event feedback shows that Vivek Kundra's presentation was extremely popular. We'll be sharing his presentation within the next week or two. Technorati Tags: wes08sep

AAM is sponsoring an "Emerging Museum Professionals" happy hour tonight at Saint-Ex (1847 14th Street NW at U Street) from 6-8pm. don't know how they identify "emerging" (was it when I got out of the shower?) but they say "all are welcome.".
Speakers came from Stephenson Strategies, DC government, NPR, and the Sunlight Foundation. This included putting all videos of procurement bids on to YouTube to releasing real-time data sets in a catalog of 261 data feeds , the DC government has quickly become a leading example of data transparency.
