I thought it might be useful to compile a list of all of the commercial donor databases I’m aware of. This list came from my head, my bookmarks, and lists compiled by NTEN and Idealware for their donor management software surveys (and I’m not certain all of these are actually donor databases). It does not include custom systems, of which there are many. Feel free to let me know what I missed, which systems no longer exist, and which aren’t really I am not planning to keep this list updated — that sounds like a full-time job. But I will post additions

In addition to Winter ‘10 from the mother ship , a lot of good stuff has been happening this Fall in our little ‘ole Salesforce database. Convio released their own Fall ‘09 upgrade of Common Ground (to version 2.1)
While I was still trying to figure out what we were going to do before switching to Convio Common Ground, I asked staff for their Salesforce wish list: “what do you wish our database could do that Best of all: we haven’t had to spend an additional penny for any of it, since it’s all about tools we were already using .

I’ve been playing around with Convio’s new fundraising management tool built on Salesforce called Common Ground. While software rarely ever fully impresses me, Convio did a bunch of things right: - Very strong donor management baseline for most nonprofits. For the vast majority of nonprofits (especially small- to mid-sized ones), Convio outstrips the functionality most will need. - Doesn’t break Salesforce mold. Bottom line: I’m super impressed! program The most recent announcement is from Convio, which launched Convio Open .

We started using Salesforce as our main database in 2006, following the nonprofit best practices of the time. Whether I decided to install the Salesforce Foundation’s Nonprofit Starter Pack , Convio Common Ground or something in between (or nothing at all), I would have some concessions to make.
After weighing all the options, and with a little help from some friends , we’ve decided to purchase Convio’s Common Ground.
Back in February, I did a little “thinking out loud” about where C3 was going with Salesforce .
Now, 3 years later
