[PODCAST] Internal Communications and Nonprofit Management Pt. 2 | Ft. Marc Pitman

In this section, we chat about the shift in employees across the board—nonprofit or otherwise—becoming millennials. How do you engage millennials for the future of your staff? Marc advises you to just wait and see. Older generations are moving up and out every day and millennials are naturally filling the newly open spots. Nonprofits must improve their internal communications and nonprofit management to stay ahead of the trends.

So now that we’re done over-emphasizing generational gaps in employment and engagement in the nonprofit sector, how do we incentivize qualified people to apply within the nonprofit sector? Passion isn’t enough for a stellar staff or board of directors; there have to be people on the payroll who aren’t just excited about why they’re doing what they’re doing, but people who are skilled at their trade and help achieve the organization’s mission on an operational level.

Reeling those highly qualified employees doesn’t always start with a higher salary. Further job training, professional development and even incentive-based pay benefits are other good places to start, among other areas that Pitman discusses in this episode.

If you haven’t yet listened to the first part of this series on nonprofit management and effective internal communications, now is a great time to check it out so you have context for the second part of our conversation with Marc Pitman.
