Lame spam of the day: Instant Acrobat Upgrade

Robert Weiner

It lists an Adobe office in Canada, whereas the company is based in California. The update site is instant-acrobat-upgrade.com, not adobe.com. The sender's address is @newsletter.northerntool.com. No company logo in the message (easy to fake, but many spammers don't bother). I got two copies. We hope to see you in the New Year.

Lame spam of the day: Amazon cancelation

Robert Weiner

Would someone really click this? Sender: order-update@amazon.com. Subject: Amazon.com - Your Cancellation (147-911-9683). Text: (yes, blank lines at the top).

He said I needed another ID and should not have been allowed through security at SFO with just my old & temporary licenses. Is this at all rational? I understand (now) that the hole in my license meant I couldn't drive with it.

Discussion of Donor Data Retention

Robert Weiner

Basically, if there are no laws in Canada about what kinds of records you have to keep for a certain amount of time, then you are good there. Here is a compilation of the responses: I did my graduate work in archives and records management. It will depend on local laws, your storage needs, and your relationship to past customers.
