The biggest challenge for me was scaling with mic runners.    I had mic runners stationed at different quadrants of the room who would go to the person who wanted to speak.    It was hard to get people as engaged as a full group after the table discussions.  Colorado Project. And how will this impact the way we build relationships and find information? The person tweeting is tasked to be on message as the voice of the organization while creating a unique and engaging personality to draw an audience in. There's just aren't a lot of people out there that are doing it on any kind of professional scale, other than personal chefs and stuff like that. To go back to that person's question, do you feel like you are growing a network of people? People paid a deposit, and then they returned them. We weren't bank-financed, at all. Absolutely.

The Best from the Nonprofit Technology Community

Last year, I marked the date with the above photo and a post with tips for cultivating bloggers and how it was like a long term relationship.  Plus, the person took the time to get to know me over time before asking me for anything.  Tags: relationships We've been together for 29 nine years!  got a cravat pitch this morning.
Many institutions that are pursuing online/onsite experience connections have lighted on the personal webpage as THE way to deliver post-visit experiences. The personal webpage has many adherents, and some institutions, like The Tech Museum in San Jose, have been offering them for almost a decade. These pages often look barren.
The session I've been percolating, though, is the one on personal branding which was a debate of sorts (though they both seemed to agree on everything) between Aaron Brazell ( @technosailor ) and Amber Naslund ( @Ambercadabra ). Aaron also posted a follow-up blog post which summarizes his view on the issue of personal branding.

Matures: - Actually like to be called and reached out to personally - Pre-plan their giving - Still send everything through mail for donations - Want to guard their investments - Will self identify with organizations and want to feel like their dollars are being given to support the mission. Author: Jordan Viator. My main takeaway?
For nonprofits, that means moving from the transactional to the constant relationships.  As we discovered last week from looking at movement building , relationship building skills are really important.  what does this type of relationship building look like in the weeds?  Period. That is what they crave and appreciate the most.
While they may send you a long Christmas letter (the personal friend version of a nonprofit’s annual report), they don’t send you a 12-page newsletter every three months and never talk to you otherwise. Friends of friends pass on little bits of news they hear about and from you (we call that word of mouth marketing).
If you want visitors to share stories or personal expression in your institution, you need to respect them as individuals who have something of value to contribute. I'm talking about personal profiles. Asserting personal identity with respect to an institution is something we do daily in other environments. Not so at museums.
If these connections are personal enough, I'm finding that Facebook gives us a somewhat better range of interactions than other services. Make personal videos or audio. This has been great lately, this trend of people sending personal cards in the mail. It was very personable. Tags: relationships Send paper cards.
