More about that exciting news in a separate post. The tool allows philanthropists, investors, press, and fellow entrepreneurs to find social entrepreneurs based on keyword, location, cause area, population served, and a variety of other factors. It's a great time to be a social entrepreneur. It's a great time to be someone who wants to see social entrepreneurialism thrive, too.

I'm really looking forward to my first ever National Press Club talk in Washington D.C. , coming up on April 29th. We have exciting news about Bookshare, and it's especially thrilling to be talking about an educational program that scales well and works. Tags: NPC National Press Club newsmaker Bookshar Of course, the secret to Bookshare is that it's not Benetech making it so successful, it's our volunteers, our community, the schools, colleges, universities, authors and publishers that make it work so well for people with print disabilities so severe that they cannot read a standard printed book effectively.

Last week I spoke on a couple of great panels at the Politics Online Conference about technology, social media and how Congress is trying to adapt to the ever-changing world wide web aka the “series of tubes” as former Senator Ted Stevens so hilariously described it. From grassroots advocacy staffers to Hill

When I set up a newsreader for an Executive Director full of blog, news and search feeds related to their organization’s issues and show them how they can skim through it for the most updated information about their cause, their eyes widen. Before your organization starts to blog, set up a newsreader, whether it is Bloglines or Google Reader or something else, and see what is being written about your organization and the issues that it represents. Quality not quantity doesn’t mean that each post reads like a press release, or a page from your annual report. I am often asked for advice from nonprofits that want to start a blog.

The blog also kept people informed during the second trial, when media coverage had diminished, and eventually drew attention to the trial when the blog got news coverage. 3. Last March I was on a blogging panel for an event put on by the Alliance of Technology and Women. To prepare for the panel,
