All 501c3’s in the United States have profiles on GuideStar.
3. Those five points made, if your organization has old information inside of GuideStar, then you have old information on Network for Good, Give A Tweet, Change.org, Razoo and Facebook Causes. Updating GuideStar is a bit tedious because you have to enter a lot of financial data, but in this new era of social media fundraising, keeping your organization’s information current in GuideStar is an absolute must.

Because of how the information is categorized on the back end, they are able to relate projects and programs with ease, allowing the end user to see the full picture of how impactful the work of WCS really is.

Since the popular Facebook fundraising App Causes was built using GuideStar’s database of nonprofits in the United States and Canada, only nonprofits in the U.S. Considering that 70% Facebooks users are outside of the United States and that most of its growth is occuring internationally, Ammado’s timing is very good.
That said, nonprofit’s inside the United States and Canada can utilize Causes’ fundraising tools. There are some amazing nonprofits at the grassroots working miracles daily with relatively small amounts of cash, but unfortunately,

have only been subscribed a few days and yet to receive a text alert, but I am hoping that the text message will include a link to a mobile web page where I can easily enter my contact information to send an email to my members of Congress… from my iPhone.
DO Something is utilizing text alerts to inform individuals about volunteer opportunities in their area. Not to be confused with Text-to-Give campaigns (Text HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross), text alert campaigns are when individuals opt-in to be alerted of breaking news or calls to action via text message.

I have a confession to make: I'm rooting for some organization, any organization, to unseat the Humane Society of the United States as the winner of this year's Nonprofit Video Awards .
It's Quite the contrary: it was very well made, with important, disturbing, and timely information. It's not that last year's winning video, " Overlooked: The Lives of Animals Raised for Food ", was bad. No, the problem was, the video played at the 2008 NTC -- replete with images of animal abuse, including a long segment on the inhumane caging of chickens -- projected on a big screen,

Next week, I will be participating in a session entitled, "Reach Out and Blog Someone" along with Steve Swenson of the Bakersfield Californian at the United Way of Kern County's Professional Development Conference for Nonprofits . They are a tool that allows for a conversation between the reader and the writer, and for information to reach people quickly all over the world. Last March I was on a blogging panel for an event put on by the Alliance of Technology and Women. To prepare for the panel, I wrote up 10 Ways Nonprofit Can Use Blogs.
