Maybe a way to do this is by providing a guided tour through the website to empower the users to then navigate faster and more easily on their own? This review is documented in this wiki page.

There was a really useful discussion thread on the NTEN list for requests about wiki software and summarized on the blog . I contributed my two cents about wiki adoption off the top of my head and Rob did a great summary of my advice and also from others -- so I'm posting here for the next time I want to think about wiki adoption.
Wikis are good for creating a knowledge base or encyclopedia
I love the slideshow from the good folks from Atlassian Software www.atlassian.com . It gives me another opportunity to thank Jeffrey S.

Now, for the next tool of my affection: wikis . A couple of months ago Laura Quinn, our Executive Director, asked me look into using a wiki to help with version control when having people review our upcoming Field Guide to Software for Nonprofits: Fundraising, Outreach, and Communications. I did a little bit of research first, reading Peter Campbell's post on how wikis are becoming more relevant than (gasp!) I, like most nonprofit staffers I imagine, both love my job and always have a mountain of work to get through. So, with that in mind, I am always looking

(I I even planned an NTC panel on one ) There are already a few good resources already planted on the wiki, including a Best Practices wiki by my colleague Andy Roberts . (I I had a change to play in the sandbox with Andy during the CPsquared conference and I hope he is participating.) I was at a conference this week at a session on Web2.0

A while back, I blogged on my experiences with wikis . In addition to my outside experience, I finally figured out a way in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 to setup a team wiki. When I “launched” the wiki in a brief demo to the team, it went pretty well. People needed to know how to use the wiki . Being in the business of explaining technical things, it’s easy to skip the obvious and jump to the difficult stuff. After all, since we can make educated guesses of what people will struggle with; why not jump to explaining that content?

These goals should guide what your priorities are, what content and functionality you will provide online. Given our multiple team members, we use a wiki as an easy-to-use online collaborative space, where we keep a calendar of upcoming blog topics and draft blog posts. The wiki helps us avoid version control issues and allows us to keep a history of changes by author.
