at NWF, listening has been the foundation of our social media movement, we are nothing unless someone thinks we are something
everything before lays the foundation, everything during and after helps you improve and change your strategy
ARC - we are set up similarly, Robin Parker does Oregon Trail chapter for example
I’m here at NTEN’s 09NTC and am going to live blog Beth Kanter’s session on mapping your social media strategy to metrics. Below is the live blog or the archive of the live blog.

I have used social media to help raise the money for her tuition through the Sharing Foundation in 2007 and 2008 . If he can rent out the 4 remaining offices (at $400 ea) and 60 hot desk spaces (at $175 ea) by 5PM PT Monday June 1, 2009 at his co-working space, NedSpace , he'll not only send Leng Sopharath to college, but to other Cambodians through the Sharing Foundation's college education program. NedSpace is a 7,500 square ft co-working space In December 2006, I launched my first experiment in using social media for fundraising - raising $800 on my blog to help send Leng Sopharath, a young Cambodian woman, to her freshman year at college.

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation just published a very nice article, Leveling the Field , about one of our key Bookshare.org supporters, Bernie Newcomb. Bernie grew up as a visually impaired kid and Oregon and rejected the low expectations of the then-education institutions and went to college and on to become an engineer and successful entrepreneur. Bernie is very low key, and I'm glad the Foundation encouraged him to go on the record with why he does what he does. Bernie was VP Engineering and co-founder at eTrade. Amazingly enough, eTrade started in the same

For example, the Philosophy Cafe blog recently connected their Circle, in Saudia Arabia, with a Sister Circle in Oregon. You may have seen Peace x Peace in O, The Oprah Magazine several years back. Established in 2002, Peace x Peace's Global Network connects

I got a chance to meet Amy when I was in Portland, Oregon a few weeks back to do a workshop and really appreciated the opportunity to geek out about nonprofit tech and social media!
Amy is also one of the awesome bloggers who is helping to promote the Sharing Foundation's America's Giving Challenge, along with Michele Martin , Roger Carr, Rebecca Krause Hardie , and more .
Today is Amy Sample Ward's Birthday! Happy Birthday!

My introduction to the nonprofit technology space occurred during my first year of law school in Oregon (1995). We had no money and foundations did not understand what we were trying to do.
While checking my links in Technorati last month, I came across a link from a blog named "Darkstar.org" and wasn't sure who it was. After a little digging, I figured it out was Carnet Williams!

I'm in the Columbia River Gorge on the Oregon/Washington border (finally) to do my Nonprofits and Social Media Workshop at the RWJ Foundation's annual meeting for grantees. My connecting flight out of New York was delayed by 4 hours! We sat on the runway. They served us drinks and let us use our cell phones.
