Here’s why I chose Drupal to carry out the Asian Pacific Americans for Progress website instead of Wordpress. Drupal is very good at building complex websites that can vault a nonprofit past brochureware or a blog and into the position of being #1 on your subject matter. Drupal. However, there are caveats. Our pals over at Idealware have just released a pretty comprehensive report comparing some open source content managment giants — WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Plone. This report also includes our new directory of the consultants and firms who help nonprofit create websites and implement these Content Management Systems.

I’ve been working with Drupal a fair bit over the last few weeks, with the ultimate goal to basically be able to really work with it to create sites. converted my (very simple) consulting site to Drupal, without any bells and whistles. In my estimation, it’s amazingly promising, as a platform for interesting private sites.
