This actually works out fine, but don't expect to be doing PowerPoint out there! As one attendee put it to me, he can always go to everyone's blog and find out what they're working on. One sample session was the one on the Google Book Settlement, led by Pam Samuelson of UC Berkeley. And yes, it actually is a camp.

Women for Women International supports women survivors of war in conflict and post-conflict areas (Afghanistan, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Sudan). She posted a scan of one of the letters she received on her post, Two Great Charities at Work to Beat Poverty. Tell us about it.

If there's a book you really want to read but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. Toni Morrison Here's my list of Favorite Books of 2006, in the order I read them. Both books are crazily well-written. Jeffrey Sachs in Africa on MTV, I wanted to read his book. This was my favorite book of the year.*

I've posted a couple of times about giving circles, groups of people who get together to learn about an organization's work, and pool their donations to have a greater impact. Brodsky documents the inside story of the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA). This was my favorite book of 2005).

Here's what I found: Chicago Books to Women in Prison , a volunteer collective that distributes free books to women in prisons across the country, has a blog as their front page. They recently posted about the Chicago Tribune article, "Behind Bars, But Still Girls". Chicago Community Midwives also uses a blog as their site's home page.

Loyal to the Sky received a Nautilus Book Award for world changing books. Your way may be starting an organic catering company, or painting about issues that are important to you, or getting out on the streets and protesting, or maybe working with policy; there are all kinds of different work. lot of it was positive.
