from MySpace to Facebook to Twitter to Foursquare. first got on MySpace in February 2006 when I created a portal to Nonprofit Organizations on MySpace. This is when the MySpace vs. was loyal to MySpace and the community there, and honestly quite offended by all the MySpace bashing. The community was red hot.

The 2010 Nonprofit Benchmarks Report released by NTEN has some great data that nonprofits can use for guidance. However, nonprofits experienced a drop in their average community from 5,391 members in 2009 to 2,440 in 2010. In 2010 nonprofits average close to 1800 followers. in 2010, and LinkedIn stayed steady at 32.9%

Many donors may not feel comfortable donating directly through social media apps and widgets (yet), but they do feel comfortable clicking to your “Donate Now&# page on your website from a link posted on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. Facebook/YouTube/MySpace Comments and Twitter Mentions. Thousands of nonprofits haven’t logged into their MySpace profiles in months, or even a year or more. That said, MySpace is not dead. created the Nonprofit Organizations MySpace in 2006. There are lots of friendly activists and comment fairies on MySpace that do care very much about social causes and nonprofits.

There’s also been a bit of controversy around the Causes application specifically, due to it’s decision to abandon the MySpace platform and offer it’s application/services only to the Facebook community. MySpace estimates that 50% of its Website traffic will be mobile within 24 months. My guess is that 2010 will be the year when many nonprofits will be able to starting utilizing these new, powerful mobile tools at a much lower cost. After you record a message, you are given a URL for the message that you can post on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc. An online database of Twitter Apps called oneforty currently lists almost 2,900 third-party Twitter Apps.
