The Strategy by David Neff of Ridgewood: Ingenious Communication Strategies If 2009 was the year everyone and their mom jumped into the social media pool, then 2010 is the year of strategy. We used this technique for DIGG, forums, Twitter, Bing, and Google and then set up various searches along with monitoring of certain Twitter feeds.

Easier to determine–and something I can now instruct you to do for yourself–is to learn the difference between Digg , Reddit , Facebook , Twitter , and StumbleUpon. Don’t add a “Digg this! link to all your pages simply because you know that Digg is the biggest and most active social networkout there.

We’ve also received a lot of traffic from Stumbleupon and Digg as well as the other social news and bookmarking sites. 8220;My first step was to get NWF on Facebook and MySpace. would recommend dabbling on different websites like - Facebook , Twitter , Flickr , YouTube , Delicious , StumbeUpon , feed aggregators like Google Reader , Plaxo , a wiki site like one from Wetpaint , Hulu , Flixster , Last.fm , LinkedIn , and Digg. We talk about social media, just a little bit , on our Blackbaud blogs.

in 2009 reminds me of Web 1.0 Will people give through Facebook? An article in today's Washington Post notes that "fewer than 1% of those who have joined a cause have actually donated money through [the Facebook Causes] application." Before starting to create a strategy it makes sense to set a baseline. Phase 0.
