Great reads from around the web on March 3rd

These are some links I wanted to share from March 3rd. Find me on Delicious for more!

  • Facebook | we20 – the best reason to get your friends together this year – Do you know about the we20 project? A great example of organizing on the social web. "we20 meetings will create people plans, policy plans, business plans and other plans on local, national and global issues. The recession is focusing minds. What change do you want to create? Give your meeting a title and agenda or go with the flow. We're excited about what we can do! Members of we20.org will be awarded 20 votes to place on their favorite plans. Once we20 meets critical mass (and we sort our lives out), we will help you to implement your plans using web applications and partnerships." Check out the Facebook Group for more information.
  • Nominations open for 2009 Social Innovation Fellowships | The Pop!Tech Blog | Accelerating the Positive Impact of Worldchanging People and Ideas – "PopTech has opened nominations for the 2009 Pop!Tech Social Innovation Fellows program. The program helps accelerate the impact of visionary change agents who are incubating transformative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Participants, who are selected from around the world and many different fields, gain access to world-class thought leaders and a 21st century toolkit – including the latest tools and thinking in emerging technology, leadership, communications, branding, funding, design and scalability."
  • Event Registration (EVENT: 134093) – Are you can educator or work in a nonprofit that focuses on K-12 education? Here's a free webinar from Education Week on March 10 that focuses on Obama's stimulus plan and it's impact on the K-12 budget and more. Check it out!
  • Pew Internet: Twitter and status updating – Report from Pew on the use of Twitter and similar services from earlier this month: "Nearly one in five (19%) online adults ages 18 and 24 have ever used Twitter and its ilk, as have 20% of online adults 25 to 34."
  • Coup d’Etat on Twitter | Blog | design mind – Great example of the real-time and collaborative aspects of Twitter. "We’ll see more of this "instant" rewriting and reliving of history. Twitter is perfectly suited to translate historical narratives into the realm of social real-time presence."
