Google sees granular privacy controls as a way to spark more sharing because people will feel more comfortable and not just lurk. And, of course, the Facebook VS Google War has just gotten started.

Not being able to organize/sync bookmarks was a bit of a deal breaker. Frankly, the way Google does "beta" it's more like the dev version is the beta while the beta is a release version. Google Apps friendly. XMarks: Chrome Mac still doesn't allow for reorganizing bookmarks. Too much updating.
