Blackbaud has released a summary of early results from its analysis of 2008 online giving trends. The results come from 2,000 nonprofits using Blackbaud’s online fundraising tools. An average online gift of $152.12, although organizations focused on event-based and peer-to-peer online fundraising had lower average gift amounts.

A new study released by Blackbaud’s Target Analytics division suggests that first-time online donors do not become recurring donors. The study of 24 national nonprofits found that people who make a first-time gift online often don’t make subsequent online gifts to the charity (although some give through other means).
