We work in countries like Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, among others. I just came from Congo and met with her, and a lot of other women in Congo and Rwanda and I am constantly amazed. Our country director in Rwanda was a refugee all her life. That's the story of Women for Women. Every single one.

We have seen that in other places as well such like in Rwanda, and in the Middle East and numerous other places. I think in the United States, the environmental movement is seen very much as a movement that is about protecting species, and is in a way almost a privilege of an upper class white elite.
