Apparently, Amazon is now getting push back from publishers, starting with Macmillan, who want them to charge more than $9.99 Macmillan, like other publishers, has asked Amazon to raise the price of electronic books from $9.99 Now, Amazon is fighting what is essentially the same battle. for e-books. to around $15. I get that.

I got a $50 Amazon e-certificate, and I'm so excited over what I decided to spend it on. I picked up 2 Alice Starmore books: Fisherman's Sweaters: Twenty Exclusive Knitwear Designs for All Generations and The Celtic Collection: Twenty-Five Knitwear Designs for Men and Women. Alice Starmore is a Scottish needlework designer.

My most important work files are copied to an Amazon S3 disk via JungleDisk. I won't lose one byte of data. I practice what I preach to others. My entire drive is mirrored nightly to a bootable firewire drive. I save files to DropBox now out of habit. And I have my laptop and iPhone. Or it's in the cloud.

She'd love an iPad, right? And it has nothing to do with the price. Here's why I won't recommend an iPad 1.0 to my Mom: Apple needs to make up its mind.
