I imagined women or girls who received cards might keep them in a place in her home, in a drawer, or on a shelf that would always remind her that she is cared for, and that she is a part of a much larger global community. We are also funding very special after school art classes in Afghanistan through our partnership with Trust In Education.

Because without art our children’s minds will not grow to comprehend life beyond the obvious. Because 3-4 million cats and dogs are euthanized each year in America. Because in a global society all our human rights need to be fought for and protected. Because America ranks 14th in reading, 17th in science, and 25th in math.

We work in countries like Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, among others. It was my own story of wanting to understand why my mother sent me to America all of a sudden in an arranged marriage that I document. So, there are lots of tangible results from what we are doing, and that's how we measure our success.
