Blackbaud – Convio merger expected to close this week

Robert Weiner

The Department of Justice signed off on Blackbaud's acquisition of Convio last week, and it looks like the deal will close this week. This is just the beginning of the story. I expect that it will take at least several months, and probably several years, before the dust settles and we know what's left behind. David Lawson has been arguing that Common Ground is a goner and clients will be pushed to eTapestry.

Lame spam of the day: Amazon cancelation

Robert Weiner

Lame lame lame. This doesn't look remotely like an email from Amazon. And of course it's not for a product I ordered. Would someone really click this? Previous incarnations of this spam have led to a Canadian online pharmacy, and the hyperlinks in this one lead to a site in Canada. Sender: order-update@amazon.com. Subject: Amazon.com - Your Cancellation (147-911-9683).

Lame spam of the day: My Name is Tuma

Robert Weiner

OK, this hits all the marks for lameness. No graphics, no link, no attachment, no offer, no call to action. Someone must be playing with their new spambot. The message is exactly as it appears below, including the blank lines at the beginning: Sender: tuma ahoussou (toumaahoussou@indiatimes.com). Subject: hi. Text: Hello dear, How are you? My name is; Tuma.
