The company was founded in 2011 when Adam Weinger, Double the Donation’s President, was working at a major bank and made donations to his university, the local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, and LLS. The 2011 Greater Washington Give to the Max Day successfully built capacity in local nonprofits, with 84 percent of nonprofit survey respondents reporting that the Giving Day training sessions increased their ability to interact and fundraise online. Some Giving Days are single days, others last a week or even a month.
