At the end of that panel, we all hoped there would be a larger nonprofit presence on the agenda for this 2009.    And yes, indeed, in 2009, there were more nonprofit focused panels and happily the trend continued at SXSW 2010. Online numbers don’t always equate offline results. It was organized by Ed Schipul.  Trust me.

In 2008, many of the friends of the Nonprofit Organizations MySpace migrated over to Facebook, then in 2009 and 2010 a good number of the new fans came from @NonprofitOrgs on Twitter. That said, this information is very useful. Last week the Nonprofit Organizations Facebook Page reached the 10,000 fans milestone. It took 2.5 years.

This seems to be another piece of evidence that confirms my concerns about online homophily , which of course extends offline as well. The skill of scanning isn't just about how well we are able to manage a stream of information.
