Everybody interested in the actual "technology" part of nonprofit technology -- as differentiated from what technology can help your organization accomplish -- should probably give it a read (and not just because Tim O'Reilly compares Steve Jobs to either Gollum or Frodo; I can't tell which). In 2009 their campaigns made me laugh or helped me channel my frustration over injustices into action. Here’s my list of the best websites and online campaigns from 2009. Charity:Water In 2009 Charity:Wate r became the super star of the nonprofit world for using social media to brand themselves and raise money online.
As the competition heated up, we certainly had to adapt, but having an overall strategic plan helped make sure that every communication piece was ready to go when needed. The goal was simple. Earn a permanent spot on the GlobalGiving website by raising at least $4000 online from 50 individual donors in three weeks. The challenge was daunting.
