Target Analytics , a Blackbaud company, announced last week the latest Index of National Fundraising Performance for the second quarter of 2009. The index compares trends in key fundraising indicators from 77 organizations, including over 36 million donors and more than 68 million gifts totaling almost $2 billion in revenue.

Blackbaud Europe has released the 2009 State of the Not-For-Profit Industry survey. Blackbaud teamed up with The Resource Alliance for the second year in a row to produce this pan-European benchmarking study. The results were unveiled at the International Fundraising Congress in the Netherlands.

It's day two of the Target User Forum here in Boston. The morning starts off with the keynote session Josh Bernoff , co-author of Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies. Josh is one of the most sought after speakers on the topic of practical, data-based strategies for getting results from social networks.

My colleague, Nicholai Burton, posted a terrific blog entry last month about ways for cultural organizations to thrive in a down economy. While he spoke specifically on ways to engage patrons, his ideas can be relevant to all types of nonprofit organizations. As a marketer, my favorite suggestion was his first, to “know thy audience.”

As an extension to Frank’s post on LIVE STRONG Day , I’d like to discuss another aspect of Lance Armstrong Foundation’s grassroots efforts. Over the past few years, LAF has cultivated a successful program for independent fundraisers called Grassroots Fundraising. This program has become an important extension of the LIVE STRONG Day program.
