Blackbaud has been actively engaged in researching and analyzing trends in the nonprofit sector for quite a while. Blackbaud’s research found that online revenue grew by 46% in 2009 compared to 2008. This was a decrease of only 2% compared to December 2008. This was up from $2,500 in 2008. Year-Over-Year Growth Trends.

He thinks that time-based billing is bad. On one hand, he feels that consultants should base their fees on the value they bring to the consulting relationship, not the time spent. But some of his ideas are interesting, especially the notion of setting the fees on the value you bring, rather than the time you spend.

Yesterday, they published the list of organizations that have lost their exemption from paying income tax due to failure to file required reports in 2007, 2008, and 2009. And, for what its worth, Arizona organizations are getting new charitable exemptions all the time, more than 800 of them in 2010 alone. This is great news.
