OpenSocial is a set of APIs that handle three different kinds of user data: profiles, social graph (who your friends are) and activities (the stuff of the Facebook news feeds.) The Connect platform is a set of APIs, starting with the contact and payment sets of entities, that will allow access (via SOAP 1.1) The APIs will be without cost. A couple of annoyances: the documentation for the APIs aren’t up yet, and the sample code they are going to publish is in C# and Java!
