I am delighted that I have an article, An Introduction To Screencasting published over at Idealware . And speaking of screencasting, my screencast about tagging just made the TechSmith " Screencast of the Week " and I just got a big box of swag too, including some free demo CD's , that we'll hand out at the NTC Screencasting Session next week.
Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not blogging to this for self-promotion.

Reading Jon Udell's blog and discovered that today is the third anniversary of the term screencast! Here's a screencast to mark the date.
He reflects on the genre and how people are using it and the significance of jing from Tech Smith, a screencasting application that makes it very easy for anyone to do a screencast.
Just today I was beta testing a new site for a colleague and he me wanted

have been knee deep researching and thinking about Web Analytics in general and Google Analytics in particular for a third screencast in a series I'm doing for NTEN . (The other two included my tagging and widgets screencasts). This screencast will demystify web analytics and use Author and Analytics Evangelist Avinash Kaushik's mantra of simplicity to illustrate some of the useful features and reports in Google Analytics , a free but powerful web analytics software tool. I am so thrilled that Michele Martin has started screencasting because I'm sure I'll learn something. This tip caught my eye: Use fixed width to capture and auto pan Ideally, for most situations, when creating a screencast it is best to use a fixed region (640 wide by 480 high) and set the screen recording to autopan.
Autopan Now, I'm curious to go back and make a screencast in Camtasia using auto pan and see what the difference might be.
No matter how much you might know about a topic, you need to keep try to stay in a state of perpetual learning. That's easy

I'm working on a screencast (Google Analytics) and I'm not an expert in using the software. Do you stick to your comfort zone and only make screencasts on the topics that you know like the back of your hand or do you stretch and venture into a topic or software that is not only new territory but may be difficult to learn? What I really like about screencasting is that it has helped me learn about software and technology. Click To Play

Add Beth's Blog: Screencasts to your page
High bandwidth version on screencast.com Screencast Wiki
I'm pleased to announce that the second screencast is now available. There some kind words over at the NTEN Blog about my most recent screencast.
In the first of a series co-sponsored by NTEN and Salesforce.com Foundation , I covered the integration of Google Adwords with salesforce.com . It delves deeper into the uses of salesforce.com campaigns tab, " Salesforce Campaigns for Nonprofits ".

Aside from the usual mechanisms, I think blogs like Susie's Blog that focus on nonprofit adoption of open source software and screencasts can be useful tools.
was delighted to discover another nonprofit technology screencaster, one who is using Open Source tools to boot!
James James Davis of Free Charity , a web host that provides free Internet and IT services to nonprofits, announced on the UK Riders At Penguin Day, one of the issues discussed was nonprofit adoption of Open Source software and the issue that there aren't enough technology stewards, translators, documentation, and training available to the end user to make adoption easier.

It was very liberating for me to create a screencast like this -- no storyboard, script, no retakes ... I'm working on a screencast and it might be excellent way to do research or share implicit geek shoudlder-to-shoulder knowledge across the Internet. avi converter and test it - but you could possibly edit and remix these clips into a screencast.

These are my powerpoint slides from the Screencasting Session at NTC . My favorite quote about the session was from Jason Zannon at Democracy in Action: Beth Kanter delivers herself of a tour de force on screencasting. If more of us are screencasting, then all I have to do is remix other people's work, provided they've licensed their material using creative commons licensing.
If you didn't write down the wiki, it's here and if you didn't get a hard copy of the Idealware article, it's here .
Naturally, everything from and about it is immediately available

I've been trying to collect screen captures and stories about nonprofit web analytics for a screencast on Google Analytics for NTEN. Kevin Gamble left me a comment on a google analytics post that the " Depth of Visit Report " was one of the best metrics (coupled with referring source) for understanding visitor behavior on his university's web site . still don't think navigation matters much though. Ah, my screencast script on google analytics completely ignores social media and only focuses on web sites.
